Use of Technology in the Classroom

Developed for the National Institute for the Advancement of Education (NIAE)
Discover how we developed technology micro-courses to elevate teaching in Nevada schools: structured modules engage educators in reflection, real-world application, and practical solutions for effectively integrating instructional technology across disciplines.

What We Did

Designed online professional development courses for classroom technology integration training.

Module 2 home page from an educational program. The top section features a red banner displaying the module title alongside icons representing Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides. The main content introduces the module, highlighting how Google Suite tools can support educators in teaching and learning. It mentions key digital skills such as using Google Drive, Forms, Docs, and Sheets to foster responsible digital citizenship. Additionally, a video preview titled "Module 2 Overview" is embedded, providing further insights into the module's content.

How We Did It

Collaborated with three SMEs and NIAE leadership to create two self-paced, 15-hour courses hosted in Clark County School District (CCSD)’s Canvas LMS. Analyzed district policies and technologies, designed modules with case-based scenarios, and provided clear roadmaps and milestones. Refined content through regular iterative feedback, ensuring that effective resources, interactive exercises, and practical applications were tailored for elementary, middle, and high school teachers.

What We Accomplished

Delivered credential-based courses combining theory, research, and practical toolkits. Teachers enhance technology integration skills, gain confidence, and readiness for diverse classroom settings. The courses provide engaging, interactive learning experiences contextualized for CCSD schools, empowering educators with innovative strategies to improve teaching effectiveness through hybrid, technology-supported approaches.
