Early College Teaching Credential

UNLV Course for the Northern Nevada Regional Professional Development Program (NNRPDP)
Discover how NovEduca orchestrated inputs from seven senior faculty from different universities into a cohesive three-course Early College Teaching Credential, delivering effective project and communication management, structural design, and content homogenization for a seamless, outcomes-driven program.
Cover for the case study titled: 'Early College Teaching Credential.' Features a dynamic layout with three distinct sections, each representing a different course. The first section shows a female instructor engaging in a lively discussion with students in a bright classroom. The second section depicts a teacher closely guiding a student as he takes notes. The third section highlights a male instructor assisting a student with her coursework in a focused learning environment.
Discussion module titled 'First Gen Students Discussion' (Module 2) from a course designed by NovEduca. The header has a red banner with a speech bubble icon. Below, there is a cartoon-like avatar representing the teacher, who is waving. The text explains that students have watched two videos featuring first-generation college students sharing personal experiences. The section encourages students to listen and learn from diverse stories. A 'To Discuss' box highlights the importance of words and dispositions in shaping students' confidence in higher education. It stresses how these factors can influence a student’s trajectory and provides two reflection prompts: one asking students to recall encouraging or discouraging comments from teachers and how they felt, and another comparing their own experiences with those of the students in the videos.

What We Did

Designed a 45-hour professional development series of three integrated courses, establishing an Early College Teaching Credential (ECTC) for early college instructors.

Part of the home section for a course designed by NovEduca. It features the 'Early College Teaching Credential' course, specifically Course 3. The top section contains a banner with an image of a male instructor assisting a young female student, who is writing in a notebook. The course title is displayed in bold blue text, with the UNLV College of Education logo on the right. Below the banner, a progress tracker indicates the user's completion status in the Early College Teaching Credential (ECTC) program. Course I and Course II are marked as 'Completed' with green checkmarks, while Course III is labeled 'In Progress' with a blue progress icon. The lower section begins with an 'Introduction' heading, followed by a brief description of the course.

How We Did It

We created a comprehensive program framework for vertical and horizontal alignment across the three courses, informed by seven SMEs from the University of Colorado, Denver, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. We guided the integration of diverse perspectives, theories, and teaching styles, outlined moderator roles and resources, and developed onboarding instructions to navigate the program effectively.

What We Accomplished

The ECTC program provides a robust framework for developing teaching identity, engaging diverse learners, and applying practical techniques to foster equitable, effective classroom environments. It also incorporates AI-generated scenarios on bias recognition and logical fallacies, ensuring interactive, hands-on teacher training.
